Taylor Kiessig advises clients on US federal and international tax planning, cross‑border transactions, and the taxation of financial products.
With more than a decade of experience in private practice and government service, Taylor helps multinational companies navigate complex tax rules, develop tax‑efficient structures, and evaluate the implications of evolving domestic and international tax policies.
Taylor’s practice includes counseling clients on US tax reform developments, changes in non‑US tax regimes, and emerging international tax frameworks. He regularly assists companies in structuring and negotiating domestic and cross‑border transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and reorganizations. He also supports clients in assessing regulatory developments and preparing for increased scrutiny from US and foreign tax authorities.
From 2021 to 2025, Taylor served as Special Counsel in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel (International), where he contributed to the development of US international tax guidance and advised on significant multinational tax controversy matters. During his government tenure, he worked on regulatory and published guidance projects with broad implications for global companies and was part of teams recognized with the IRS Chief Counsel National Award for Outstanding Published/Technical Guidance and the 2024 Treasury Legal Team of the Year. His experience within the government provides valuable insight into how tax rules are interpreted and applied, informing his practical and strategic approach to advising clients.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Taylor also practiced at Fried Frank in Washington, DC, where he advised on taxable and tax‑free mergers and acquisitions and other domestic and international corporate transactions.
