Powering Pod’s next phase of fleet electrification with EO Charging acquisition19. Mai 2026 Eversheds Sutherland has advised Pod, one of the UK’s leading EV charging providers, on its acquisition of EO Charging. EO Charging is a specialist provider of EV fleet charging and end-to-end depot charging software solutions. The acquisition will significantly expand Pod’s commercial fleet and energy management capabilities across logistics, transport and operational fleet environments, complementing its existing strengths across home, workplace and public charging. Commercial car and van fleets play a crucial role in enabling the UK’s transition to electric mobility, with depot charging becoming an increasingly significant part of the wider EV and energy ecosystem. While general EV uptake continues to accelerate as the cost advantages over Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles grow, fleet electrification has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments on the back of targeted government funding and regulatory tailwinds. Combining EO Charging’s depot platform with Pod’s existing smart charging and energy flex capabilities will strengthen Pod’s ability to support mission-critical commercial charging environments. Together with EDF, the combined offering will integrate depot software, energy supply, smart energy management and flexibility trading to support fleet operators as electrification continues to scale across the UK. The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Partner David Gray and comprised Associates Courtney Lonsdale, and Jess McLean (all Restructuring), Partner Tom Bray (Employment) and Principal Associates Alexandra Emery (IP) and Rebecca Sherry (Data Protection). The global law firm advised on all elements of the deal, drawing heavily on its deep expertise in energy and renewables to successfully deliver the transaction. David Gray, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “We are delighted to have supported Pod on its next phase of expansion. As fleet electrification gathers pace, we’re seeing increasing consolidation around businesses that can offer integrated charging, software and energy management at scale. This transaction is a strong example of how the market is evolving to meet those demands. We look forward to continuing to support Pod on future opportunities.” Michael Jay, CFO, Pod, said: "The acquisition of EO Charging marks an exciting step forward for Pod as we expand our capabilities into commercial fleet and depot charging - a segment that is fundamental to the UK's transition to electric mobility. This transaction required a partner who could move at pace and bring deep cross-functional expertise to the table - we're grateful to the Eversheds Sutherland team for their guidance throughout the process, proving instrumental in getting the deal across the line."
