From 10–21 November 2025, Belém, Brazil will host COP30, the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Marking a historic first for the Amazon region and the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, COP30 represents a pivotal moment in the global climate agenda.
This year’s summit signals a shift from ambition to implementation. With mounting pressure to deliver on past pledges, COP30 is expected to drive progress across climate finance, carbon markets, and the operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund.

COP30 has been framed as the “COP of Implementation”, with aspirations of a clear roadmap being laid out to reach climate goals. It culminated in 195 Parties approving the Belém Package, which include agreements on just transition, adaptation finance, trade, gender, and technology. COP30 President, André Corrêa do Lago remarked the conference was to be remembered as a “beginning of a decade of turning the game”.

The eleventh day of COP30 presented a people-centered focus. The day coincided with Brazil’s National Day of Black Consciousness, honoring the contributions of Afro-descendant communities and reinforcing the need for equity and justice in climate governance.

As one of COP 30’s six thematic axes, “Transforming Agriculture and Food Systems” has the objective of restoring land and promoting sustainable agriculture, building food systems that are more resilient, adaptive and sustainable, and ensuring equitable access to adequate food and nutrition for all.

Continuing on from the previous day, the thematic themes of the ninth day of COP30 continued its focus on Forests, Oceans, Biodiversity, Indigenous peoples, Local and traditional communities, Children and Youth, and Small and Medium Entrepreneurs.
18 November 2025
As the second week of COP30 commences, protecting nature through the empowerment of small communities and collective efforts to reverse the effects of deforestation are at the center of negotiations, alongside renewed appeals to fully implement the Paris Agreement.
17 November 2025
The sixth day of COP30 emphasized the need for alignment of financial systems, ethical frameworks and global cooperation to allow for increased capital, shared responsibility and the furthering of climate initiatives.
15 November 2025
On Day five of COP30, implementation took center stage in the discussions, with a strong focus on how to deliver ambitious climate plans across energy, industry, and finance, and accelerate progress towards a more sustainable future.
14 November 2025
On the fourth day of COP30, the focus shifted from broad climate ambition to the imperative of human centered adaption and justice. Discussions highlighted that climate resilience must be built on health, learning and equity. Financing was emphasized as a connector of these themes, with major initiatives launched to turn adaption into investable, implementable action.
13 November 2025
The third day of COP30 demonstrated that people are at the center of climate action. Discussions throughout the day emphasized that empowering individuals in all their diversity is both the pathway and the benchmark for real progress. A just transition depends on inclusive strategies that strengthen health systems, create jobs, protect human rights, and foster cultural and educational engagement.
12 November 2025
Furthering collaborative efforts to tackle climate change echoed throughout the second day of COP30. Businesses and governments were encouraged to work together to provide solutions through increased financing and removal of barriers. In employing an approach to include all stakeholders, special meetings were held to include Indigenous leaders from the region. Using technology and AI to drive these changes also took center stage.

COP30 opened with a clear call for unity and collective action. In his opening remarks, UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell echoed this, reminding participants “implementation of COP outcomes must be driven by multiple streams of international cooperation.”

As formal negotiations begin today for the 30th annual Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belèm, Brazil, world-leaders met in advance of the conference at the Heads of State summit on November 6 – 7, 2025.
