Luke focuses his practice on employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
He regularly counsels clients on compliance with the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), as well as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA and other various federal and state laws relevant to employee benefit plans. Luke has extensive experience counseling clients on issues related to Section 409A and Section 83 of the Code, and often assists clients with tax considerations and issues surrounding the drafting and administration of incentive plans, deferred compensation plans, and equity-based compensation arrangements.
Luke works with tax-qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, health and welfare plans and other areas of employee benefits law. He also counsels clients on the compensation and employment-related issues associated with mergers, acquisitions and business transactions.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Luke was an associate at an AM Law 200 law firm in Chicago where he counseled clients on employee benefits and executive compensation issues.
