UKCA Product Safety Marking Deadline Extended

UKCA Product Safety Marking Deadline ExtendedAugust 25, 2021 The UK Government has just announced that it is extending the deadline for businesses to apply the UKCA mark to products by an additional year. This means that the UKCA mark will now need to be applied from 1 January 2023, rather than 1 January 2022 as previously planned. The decision recognises the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the ability of businesses to implement the required changes. The UKCA mark replaces product safety labelling previously used by the UK whilst a member of the EU, such as the CE mark. Note that for medical devices the UKCA marking will not be needed until 1 July 2023. Different rules apply in Northern Ireland. If your business needs assistance in understanding or implementing the required labelling changes, Eversheds Sutherland can assist: we have a specialist, international group of product compliance and product liabilty lawyers. We have been working with clients across multiple sectors and locations to assist them in adapting to product labelling changes arising from Brexit.
