Natalia Cosio Ondiviela advises multinational energy companies on complex compliance and transactional matters throughout the energy sector.
Natalia focuses her practice on U.S. economic sanctions compliance and OFAC licensing related to the oil and gas industry, with a particular focus on Venezuela. She regularly conducts corporate compliance reviews and develops and implements comprehensive compliance strategies and internal policy frameworks for energy companies operating in the United States, Mexico, and other international markets.
In addition to her regulatory practice, Natalia advises clients on a broad range of transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, energy commodity transactions, and project development. She represents energy companies in negotiating sophisticated commercial arrangements, including power purchase agreements and virtual power purchase agreements, as well as physical and financial trading agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements and NAESB Base Contracts.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, she worked as a foreign associate at a multinational law firm in Houston, representing clients in cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance. Before this, she was the General Director for Legal Consultancy at the Agency for Safety, Energy, and Environment (ASEA) in Mexico City. During this time, she provided comprehensive legal solutions for developing oil and gas projects in Mexico.
