Ed (pronouns: He/Him) advises clients on a wide range of strategic contracting arrangements and has particular experience in complex, global facilities management, property and business processing outsourcing transactions.
Ed is a Partner in our Strategic Contracts team in London. He has helped clients to deliver some of their most important commercial contracts in terms of size, value and complexity.
Ed provides clients such as you with commercially focused advice which can be used to help ensure projects run to time and budget as well as delivering on any key objectives. Priding himself on his responsiveness, Ed is able to work collaboratively with his clients to deliver the best results. Whether you are a customer or a supplier, Ed is able to advise you across the full spectrum of contract law.
In addition to the global outsourcing work he is regularly involved with, Ed has experience in advising a wide range of clients on their agency, distribution and services agreements and, moreover, frequently works alongside his Corporate colleagues on delivering major joint commercial / corporate projects, including playing a pivotal role in the cross-practice group Commercial Transactional Support initiative.
Ed also advises various clients on their agency and distribution networks primarily across Africa and the Middle East. He has experience working on agency and distribution advice with Eversheds Sutherland colleagues in France, Italy and Germany and local firms in Angola, Nigeria, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Aside from outsourcing and general strategic contracting matters, Ed is a supervising member of the Commercial team's corporate due diligence initiative and regularly advises on the commercial aspects of major corporate M&A, IPO and private equity deals. Ed has also assisted with numerous large corporate reorganizations and, given his international experience, frequently takes a leading role on liaising with local counsel from around the world.
Upon qualification, Ed spent eight months on secondment with the Marks & Spencer in-house Commercial legal team. During this time, he gained experience in both the general merchandising and food sections of the business, assisting with matters such as logistics contracts, consultancy agreements, the rollout of their European website, and had an integral part to play in the rollout of M&S wholly owned stores in Continental Europe.
In addition to spending six months on secondment to the John Lewis Partnership as a trainee, Ed has been on a six-month secondment to the UK's largest insurer, Aviva plc, and while there he took the lead on helping them to drive and deliver six of their most business-critical non-IT outsourcings.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys traveling, sports (running, cycling, skiing and swimming), cookery and spending time with friends and family. He coaches students and is heavily involved in Eversheds Sutherland's diversity and inclusion programs.
