Welcome to the first edition of our International Quarterly Global AdVocate newsletter, a topical resource designed to keep you informed about the latest legal developments in the dynamic world of advertising and marketing.
Our goal is to provide you with timely and insightful updates that will help you stay ahead of the curve and navigate the latest legal requirements from across the globe.
Speaking of goals, with the Euros behind us the focus is now on the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. As well as watching the world class athletes, we will also be watching with interest to see if there is any interesting ambush marketing from non-sponsors seeking to associate themselves with the event. Will it take the form of using names or symbols that call the event to mind (such as the Olympic rings), or intruding into the event and handing out or displaying branded items in the hope they will be picked up on the television coverage of the event, or other increasingly creative ways? Any interesting developments on this front may feature in our next edition!
This edition touches on a range of important topics that companies need to have on their radar now to ensure compliance, such as the steps taken by different countries to crack down on greenwashing, to tightening rules around advertising alcohol-free beverages, as well as gambling, influencers and crypto assets to name but a few. Our aim is to help you navigate the legal landscape of advertising and marketing with confidence and we hope you find this newsletter informative.
Thank you to Beatrice Eleuteri, Leander Garweg and Jennifer Sandlin for co-writing this newsletter.
