She supports supplier and customer clients on the preparation and negotiation of complex commercial contract arrangements in multiple sectors.
Jo advises clients on the use of technology solutions across their business, in relation to both new customer propositions and the procurement of business technology services and systems. She also advises clients in the technology sector on the provision of their services and solutions to customers. Jo has a particular interest in AI, advising clients on contracting for the provision and use of AI tools.
Jo spends a significant amount of her time advising clients in the financial services sector in relation to the regulatory compliance obligations that apply to their outsourcings and third party agreements. She has been on secondment to two financial institutions, spending 6 months at a large Building Society working in its business and retail legal teams and 9 months at a large Bank working in its group commercial legal team, where she advised on these types of arrangements as part of the clients’ in-house legal teams.
Jo is also a member of the consumer group and spends her time helping clients ensure that they establish legally compliant and user-friendly customer journeys for new end user propositions, as well as advising on the commercial contracts underpinning those solutions.
Jo’s recent experience includes:
- advising a number of financial institutions on their material outsourcing arrangements including a fund administration outsourcing, network services agreement and loan administration outsourcing
- advising clients on contracting for AI and their AI governance frameworks including the preparation of AI standards, policies and contracting checklists
- advising a large retail bank on consumer duty compliance in their third party contracts including the preparation of a guidance note and the remediation of approximately 20 contracts
- advising a pharmaceutical company on its global facilities management outsourcing arrangements
- providing ongoing commercial contract support to a large utilities company and a large energy company which includes the preparation of a number of types of commercial contracts including framework agreements, consultancy agreements, NDAs and supply agreements and the reviewing and advising on supplier’s terms and conditions in a number of sectors including IT, utilities and insurance
- advising clients in the financial services, retail, leisure, education and utilities sectors on their consumer facing collateral including website journeys, other marketing literature, app terms, website terms and terms and conditions of sale
- advising a number of large retailers on the international expansion of their websites including project managing and collating advise from a large number of jurisdictions, advising on customer journeys, marketing literature and terms and conditions
- advising a Food & Drinks client on their licence agreements and restaurant management agreements
- assisting an IT services provider with the preparation of its standard hardware, software and services agreements and advising on specific arrangements with a number of its customers
