He has over 15 years’ experience specialising in commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration, with a focus on complex, cross-border disputes, particularly those related to Central and South America, Lusophone Africa and Iberia.

Carlos has extensive experience of disputes in the English courts; the main international arbitral tribunals, including the ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL; and in ad hoc dispute resolution procedures, such as mediation, expert determinations and industry-specific dispute resolution mechanisms.
He represents corporations across all major industry sectors, with a particular focus in energy, infrastructure, mining, life sciences and sports. His dispute experience includes advising on contractual and concessionary disputes; corporate disputes and shareholder governance issues; joint-venture and partnership disputes; judgment enforcement; jurisdictional disputes; insolvency; applications for urgent injunctive relief; IT and outsourcing disputes; employment disputes; and commercial fraud cases.
As the co-lead of the Eversheds Sutherland Latin American Alliance, Carlos also leads the firm’s strategy in relation to Latin America and manages an Alliance of 28 firms across 19 countries across the region.
