Franz Schönborn is a senior associate in the Real Estate practice group in our Munich office.
He advises leading national and international companies, project developers, asset managers, and real estate companies on all aspects of real estate law, with a particular focus on commercial leasing. His work centres on the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial lease agreements across the office, industrial and mixed use asset classes, in particular for institutional property owners.
In addition, Franz Schönborn advises on real estate transactions as well as the restructuring, consolidation, and wind down of distressed real estate projects (distressed assets), regularly also in the context of court proceedings before German courts (in particular interim relief proceedings).
Franz Schönborn studied law at the European Business School (EBS) in Wiesbaden and completed his legal traineeship at the Wiesbaden Regional Court. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, he worked in an in house legal role.

- Advising EQT on the acquisition of a portfolio comprising five highly attractive logistics properties in operation
- Legal advice to an international e‑commerce and logistics company on the handling of cross‑site insolvency proceedings in the context of project developments, covering both logistics and office asset classes
- Ongoing legal advice to a private client on the wind‑down of, and the consistent enforcement of claims against, real estate companies experiencing financial distress
- Ongoing legal advice to an institutional property owner on the development of a large‑scale site, in particular in connection with one of Germany’s largest battery storage projects
- Ongoing legal advice to an international insurance company on the leasing of a large number of office and mixed‑use properties, as well as on the restructuring of existing real estate assets
- Ongoing legal advice on the development of a mixed‑use complex in North Rhine‑Westphalia
