Omid is a Principal Associate in our litigation and dispute management practice, based in our Doha office.
Omid is a disputes and international arbitration lawyer with ten years of experience in high-value construction, energy and commercial disputes across the Middle East.
Ranked by Chambers & Partners and recognised by The Legal 500, he is a Principal Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, based in Doha. His career is built on a rigorous academic foundation and practical experience in both common law and civil law jurisdictions.
Whether you are a contractor, developer, financial institution or government entity, Omid can help you resolve your commercial disputes through international arbitration, court litigation, mediation and settlement negotiations. He has acted in arbitrations seated in Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Dubai, Paris and London, under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, QICCA, DIAC, SCCA, and SIAC, as well as in ad hoc proceedings.
Omid has led most of the firm’s litigation before the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Court and has argued landmark cases that have shaped QFC jurisprudence. These include decisions that established the rules on settlement privilege, articulated the test for awarding costs on the indemnity basis, set the threshold for adducing new evidence on appeal, defined the limits of the court’s jurisdiction over arbitration, and clarified the test for professional negligence.
Drawing on four years of practice in Oman, Omid plays a lead role in many of the firm’s dispute matters in Oman. He also works cross-office with partners in the UK, the UAE and the KSA on some of the firm’s most significant infrastructure and commercial disputes in the region.
Outside of client work, Omid is actively involved in Doha’s legal and construction community. As a committee member of the Doha Lighthouse Club, he has helped create a community space for professionals in the construction industry.
