Law360: Biggest Georgia Decisions Of 2022 So Far: Midyear Report

Eversheds Sutherland Partner Lee Peifer is quoted in this Law360 article discussing some of the biggest Georgia decisions of the year so far including, General Motors v. Buchanan.

"It's a case with big implications," said Lee, who represented amici curiae Georgians For Lawsuit Reform and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in their support of the doctrine being adopted. "It's sort of a mixed bag in a sense. It's not quite the bright line result that many, including some of the amici, had argued for."

Lee said Georgia legislators may respond with a push to incorporate the apex doctrine into state law, in an effort to provide more certainty for business entities and other organizations. The Georgia Supreme Court said in its opinion that the appropriate forum for such a law change is the Georgia General Assembly.
