Robert leads our Tax Group in Ireland. He has extensive experience advising large domestic and multinational corporations on all aspects of Irish corporate and transactional tax and stamp duty matters, particularly with respect to M&A transactions, corporate reorganisations and restructurings, and inward investment into Ireland. Robert also advises large domestic and international corporations and financial institutions on complex VAT matters, particularly in relation to commercial real estate, and on both contentious and non-contentious employment and litigation tax matters.

- Advising on tax planning and structuring of M&A transactions, including in the context of management buy-outs and venture capital transactions, and advising on all tax aspects of the acquisition/disposal and negotiation of related tax documentation.
- Advising international and domestic corporations with respect to planning and structuring of tax effective (pre and post) reorganisations, cross-border corporate mergers, voluntary strike-offs, and integration projects.
- Advising leading international corporations, particularly based in the US, on establishing operations in Ireland and providing ongoing strategic tax advice (including in relation to Irish captive finance, IP and sale structures, as well as cash and dividend repatriation strategies).
- Advising international corporations on the tax aspects of investments in energy projects (including advising on power purchase agreements and other corporate and tax documentation as part of those projects).
- Advising sellers, purchasers, developers, and financial institutions in relation to the Irish tax aspects of sales and purchases of commercial real estate in Ireland.
- Advising on the establishment of joint ventures on a multi-jurisdictional basis, with consideration of appropriate tax efficient future exit strategies
- Advising new entrants to the Irish renewables market, as well as existing market leaders, in respect of a number of high profile renewable energy projects in relation to a range of tax-related aspects, including from a tax structuring prospective.
- Advising international and domestic corporations on a wide range of employment tax related queries, including proposed redundancy arrangements, employee litigation (including settlement of same), and transfer of employees as part of a business sale.
- Advising financial institutions, corporate borrowers and asset management companies in relation to the Irish tax aspects of finance and related facilities agreements.
- Advising large corporates and SMEs on various share incentives schemes for their Irish employees.
- Advising international and domestic corporations in relation to indirect tax implications of supplies of good and services in and to Ireland.
- Advising international corporations in relation to establishing tax residency in Ireland, including providing tailored solutions to safeguard such tax residency in line with relevant business models.
