Paulo Sampaio Neves joined Eversheds Sutherland in 2005 and became a Partner in 2024. He is a co-head of the Data Privacy Security and Technology and Intellectual Property Departments.
He is a member of the Life Sciences, the Intellectual Property and the Data Privacy Security and Technology Departments, focusing his practice on Pharmaceutical Law, Data Protection, Computer, Internet and Telecoms Law, Intellectual Property, Consumer and Advertising Law, Product Regulatory Compliance and Dispute Resolution areas.
Paulo is well versed in cross-border as well as domestic transactions, mainly due to his wide work experience integrated in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department. Paulo has deep experience in the Angolan market, namely in IP matters such as trademarks, patents and logos of companies that want to protect their IP in this African country, as well as in the Medicine, Medical Devices, Cosmetics and other health products' distribution market. In Angola, Paulo also advised several processes of personal data processing and legalization with the Angolan Data Protection Agency.
He has been focusing his work on data protection – the assessment and implementation of GDPR and privacy programmes – and the role of data protection officer (DPO), both for domestic and international companies. In 2021, he became a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
He attends several seminars on privacy and data protection and is the co-author of several articles on Intellectual Property, IT and Data Protection, mostly for Portuguese publications.
