He represents clients in domestic and cross-border corporate restructurings, Chapter 11 proceedings, and other insolvency matters, with a focus on complex bankruptcy litigation and distressed litigation strategy. His practice includes preference and fraudulent transfer actions, claim objections, contested plan confirmations, asset sales, and automatic stay issues. His practice also includes advising on distressed transactions, post-confirmation trust matters, and the global and domestic enforcement of judgments and settlement awards.
He has significant experience representing individual creditors, ad hoc creditor groups, creditors’ committees, and post-confirmation trustees in high-profile Chapter 11 cases and adversary proceedings across a range of industries, including cryptocurrency, healthcare, aerospace, telecommunications, and retail. He regularly advises on cross-border restructuring issues and insolvency litigation involving foreign entities and parallel proceedings, with a particular emphasis on the international dimensions of corporate distress and recovery.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Michael served for several years as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Jo Heston at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington.
