She has experience representing clients in various issues, including conservation easements and self-employment (SECA) taxes.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Belinda was an attorney for a tax-focused law firm in its Atlanta office. While there, her meticulous research and attention to detail led to a significant victory before the Tax Court resulting in sanctions against the IRS, and the waiver of a multi-million-dollar penalty against the taxpayer. Prior to that, she represented employers and insurers in workers’ compensation cases, which included conducting numerous depositions, analyzing settlement exposures, and participating in mediations.
While in law school, she served as a student-attorney and graduate assistant for the Georgia State University Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, representing low-income clients during multiple stages of the IRS’s examination and collection process. She also interned for the U.S. Department of Justice’s U.S. Trustee Program, where she assessed disclosure statements and reorganization plans and drafted motions and petitions on behalf of the U.S. Trustee.
