Tyron is an experienced commercial lawyer undertaking work in the fields of TMT, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), outsourcing, public procurement and finance.
Tyron acts for a range of clients including those in the IT, telecoms, consumer, banking and insurance sectors.
His expertise includes local and cross border acquisitions, corporate restructuring, lending and finance arrangements, outsourcing and offshoring, data privacy compliance, competition authority filings and approvals, franchising, and public-sector procurement, appeals and compliance.
On the technology side he advises on commercial agreements including network agreements and fibre optic network deployments , infrastructure sharing arrangements, system integration, software development, product licensing, IT services, outsourcing, procurement and distribution.

- advised on the acquisition of a retail insurance broking company
- acted for the service provider on a multi-year, multi-million rand IT outsourcing agreement with one of the largest banks in South Africa
- acted for the bank to appoint a service provider for all media strategy, planning and buying services across traditional and digital media for Africa
- appointed by a multinational pay television company to negotiate with various potential service providers to upgrade their digital television billing platform
- advised on the sale of MWEB one of the largest and oldest internet service providers in South Africa
- represented a leading bank for the procurement of services to provide an on-line, real time service for the processing of ATM transactions
- advised on the sale of a leading ISP’s fibre optic network
- advised clients on the successful conclusion of various agreements with the public sector, following a public tender process
- advised on the lease of capacity in one of the largest data centres built in South Africa
- Tyron is part of the team that was awarded TMT Team of the year by the African Legal Awards in 2022
- He was also nominated and recognised in the Acritas Stars Survey in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 as a stand-out lawyer by clients that were independently surveyed
- Tyron studied law at the University of Johannesburg and obtained two degrees, a BProc and a LLB.
He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 2003, and in the same year obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Drafting and Interpretation of Contracts (cum laude).
