Johan is specialized and highly experienced in public procurement providing advice in connection to all stages and issues of procurement procedures and contracts as well as assisting in judicial reviews in court He also provides valuable counsel on energy sector matters, working with sector-leading clients on grid connection contracts, commercial agreements, and administrative law. Johan is also regularly involved in matters within the industry sector, including M&A transactions, and has extensive experience from working with most of the commercial standard terms contracts used in Sweden and the Nordics.
Johan has also been ranked as “Next Generation Partner” by the Legal 500 EMEA Guide for 2024 in Public Procurement and listed in the International Who's Who of Public Procurement Lawyers and has contributed to the Chambers Public Procurement and Government Contracts 2019 Guide.
He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, lectures at Stockholm University and has written several articles about public procurement as well as being a co-author of a commentary of the Swedish Public Procurement Act.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Johan worked as an in-house legal counsel at Affärsverket svenska kraftnät (the Swedish National grid), a contracting authority/entity within the Utilities Sector, working mainly on national and international procurements, construction works contracts, consultancy contracts, grid connection contracts, commercial agreements and administrative law. He has been involved in many large, high-value and complex energy, construction, maintenance and delivery projects (e.g. substations, power lines, cables, wind farm connections) in Sweden, the Nordic region and on the European stage.
Johan strives to build efficient and forward-thinking-looking collaborations and teams - always with the clients’ interest in focus.
He enjoys watching movies and any sport with an offside rule and endeavors to exercise, preferably via floorball and running but more likely by way of stationary bicycling.
