Andrea Gordon, a partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s Corporate Crime & Investigations and Securities Enforcement groups, advises clients on matters involving anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and securities fraud.
She has extensive experience conducting complex cross-border investigations; navigating government inquiries, self-disclosure and reporting considerations, and enforcement actions; and developing and implementing effective compliance programs tailored to mitigate each company’s specific risks. Andrea regularly counsels both corporate and individual clients in matters involving the US Department of Justice, US Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and other federal and state enforcement agencies and regulators.
Financial institutions, including banks, broker-dealers, investment advisors, and insurance companies, rely on Andrea’s deep experience and guidance on matters implicating AML and sanctions laws and regulations. She also advises on the intersection of cryptocurrency and AML, helping companies develop the compliance infrastructure necessary to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and mitigate its money laundering and sanctions risk.
Andrea also represents companies and individuals in civil litigation in both federal and state courts and has experience defending against securities class actions and fraud, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, breach of contract, and tort claims.
