Tim has considerable experience advising a range of organisations, including pension providers, master trusts, buy-out insurers, occupational pension schemes and employers, on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters (including FCA and tPR regulation).
He is responsible for identifying new and emerging legal, regulatory, policy and commercial risks for clients and developing solutions to address and mitigate these. He trains and mentors colleagues, leads strategic projects and drafts complex legal agreements.
Tim works closely with government departments, regulators and a range of industry bodies to help make pensions policy and regulation work effectively.
In his spare time, Tim enjoys coaching football and playing tennis.

Tim has acted on a number of strategic projects for pension schemes and providers, including:
- advising a range of occupational pension schemes and master trusts on the implications of the Pension Schemes Bill, including the new scale requirements, guided retirement and small pots
- advising a large number of occupational pension schemes (DB and DC) and master trust providers on the implications of the abolition of the lifetime allowance
- advising several organisations, including a market leading buy-out insurer on the implications of the introduction of the Consumer Duty and the steps needed to ensure compliance
- Over his career, Tim has presented many times at various public conferences and client events. He also regular appears on webinars and podcasts
- Tim recently spoke at the Association of Pension Lawyer’s Summer Conference on inheritance tax and pensions
Tim chairs Pension UK’s legal advisory group. He is sits on:
- the Society of Pension Professionals Legislation Committee
- the Tax Incentives & Savings Association’s Retirement Policy Committee
- the Living Pension Steering Group, which oversees the Living Pension employer accreditation operated by the Living Wage Foundation
Previously, Tim was the only lawyer to sit on the Small Pots Working Group and helped produce PASA’s guidance on GMP equalisation
