Eversheds Sutherland Purchases RECs From Cobb EMC Representing 100% of US Office Expected Electricity Usage Through 2027May 08, 2025 Eversheds Sutherland is pleased to announce that it has purchased Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from Georgia-based electric cooperative Cobb EMC, which represent 100% of Eversheds Sutherland’s US offices’ expected electricity usage through 2027. This purchase is part of the firm’s sustainability commitment to continuously improving its environmental performance. Since 2008, the firm has been committed to being a leader among law firms in enhancing the sustainability of the practice of law through efforts to significantly reduce waste and promote conservation of energy and resources. Led in the US by Eversheds Sutherland Partner Thomas H. Warren, Co-Head of Global Energy and US Sustainability Partner, the purchase of these RECs fulfills an important commitment to Eversheds Sutherland’s sustainability goals and in meeting the firm’s US net-zero targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024 (see full press release). The RECs will be supplied from Cobb EMC’s Azalea and Sandhill solar projects in Georgia. "We are focused on supporting the renewable energy and sustainability objectives of our clients and, in turn, are very pleased to collaborate with a client in pursuing our own sustainability goals for the firm’s US offices,” said Mr. Warren. “We have been purchasing RECs from Cobb EMC since 2021 and are pleased to continue this arrangement.” “As part of Cobb EMC’s 2030 clean energy goals, we continue to increase clean energy and partnering with other forward-looking organizations helps us achieve this objective,” said Tim Jarrell, VP of Power Supply, Rates and DER Strategy at Cobb EMC. “We are pleased to continue supplying renewable energy credits to Eversheds Sutherland, which also supports their US sustainability goals.” About Cobb EMC Cobb EMC is a member-owned electric cooperative that provides reliable and affordable electricity to nearly 200,000 residential and commercial consumers across Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, and Paulding counties in Georgia.
