Eversheds Sutherland has advised Chint Solar Europe on its acquisition of a 5GW portfolio of more than 15 development-stage solar, BESS and wind projects, from Voltis Renewables.
Through a newly established Joint Venture, the partnership is poised to jointly develop the portfolio which ranges from locally consented solar, battery and wind (up to 100MW), to 750MWp+ Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects via Development Consent Orders.
Having secured all necessary land rights, the portfolio is now well placed to deliver a mix of hybrid projects combining utility scale solar, battery storage (BESS) and wind. Through its partnership with Voltis, Chint Solar is taking its first steps into the UK market.
Mark van Rij, Country Manager UK at Chint Solar said:
“We are proud to have successfully completed this transaction with the support of Eversheds Sutherland. Their transactional guidance and sector-specific expertise ensured a seamless process, and were instrumental in bringing this deal to a close.”
Kiran Arora, Partner in the Global Energy Group at Eversheds Sutherland said:
“It is a testament to the resolve of both the Chint and Voltis teams that they agreed to establish such an ambitious platform for renewables development. It takes a clear vision together with a detailed understanding of the changing landscape to succeed now. We were delighted to help guide Chint on this innovative and large scale solution, which will accelerate decarbonisation and power the energy transition at a key time.”
