Eversheds Sutherland was part of the larger legal team representing thousands of immigrant families as a nationwide class that were separated under a "zero-tolerance" policy. Eversheds Sutherland represented a sub-class of hundreds of parents separated from their children in 2018 and 2019: those who had failed “credible fear” interviews conducted just after their children were taken away, and who were thus scheduled for immediate deportation. The parents were reunited with their children, got second interviews, and all passed. The firm received $300,000 in fees for this successful pro bono work, which it has contributed to non-profits.
